Is it possible to set a column value based on the category the document is sitting under in a categorized view?

I suspect it's not, so I've been trying to think of some sort of workaround but to no avail.

The situation is that I've got 2 fields that basicly store paired data.

I have a view categorized on one of the fields, and ultimately I'd like to display the corresponding entry in the other field in a column in that view.

I'm thinking that I'm going to have to rearrange how I store the data, but I can't come up with any solution.

Ideas?

(I should point out that the view is used embedded on a form, restricted to showing a single category - the first field)
